Noted for a virtuosic, hard swinging piano style, Colianni’s resume includes long term stints and collaborations with many jazz and pop music giants, including Lionel Hampton, Mel Torme, Les Paul, and Larry Coryell.
Now Colianni shares his gifts as a composer, arranger, and band leader with us with the introduction of the John Colianni Jazz Orchestra.
The John Colianni Jazz Orchestra works with an approach that seeks to build on and extend the sounds of big band jazz, with originality and innovation.

Currently (2017) - John Colianni (or "Johnny Chops"), is appearing with his 17-piece Jazz Orchestra (see above), as well as with his small groups, and as a solo performer, in varieties of venues here in the USA, as well as in international bookings, such as an upcoming August-September club and concert tour of Great Britain and Western Europe. John joined the Les Paul Trio in 2003, John performed regularly with Les in NYC and on the road for over 6 years. Since Les's passing in 2009, John has appeared (with the remaining Trio members) in tribute performances, which include frequent guest appearances by performers like Stanley Jordan, Mike Stern, Jose Feliciano, Larry Coryell, Steve Miller, Eric Johnson, Zakk Wylde, Duke Robillard, Jimmy Buffet, Todd Rundgren, Jane Monheit, Bernie Williams (the ex-Yankee), Albert Lee, Blondie Chaplin, Janis Siegel, and Larry Carlton, among others.


John can also be heard on the 2009 film soundtrack of Revolutionary Road, (w L. DiCaprio, Kate Winslet. …) There are also lengthy appearance in “Chasing Sound” and “Live In New York”, PBS films documenting the career and gigs of Les Paul.

The John Colianni Quintet's current CD release, "After Hours“, is produced and distributed by Patuxent Records (Rockville, Md.), and is JC's fourth appearance for this label.
